Excellence

Its movies like these that give a little tug to your soul and leave you with a message, and this one tells children to get to know their parents before they are gone and tells everyone to appreciate every moment and every breath they have in this world.

It’s amazing that a movie can say and stress so much but never have a sound or word. Instead, I liked seeing images and actions paint the picture, as well as an outstanding soundtrack put into play and used very effectively. I honestly could never think of a better piece of music to go with this than the one you selected, and you worked wonders with the timing. So what if the graphics or animation weren’t “extremely precise,” I appreciate work like this that doesn’t try to be perfect, it just wants to get a message across and this one really did it well. I found it far more enjoyable to view this movie, one that allows the viewer to take in and absorb the message of this movie totally without the need of speech or sound.

In all, to say the least, I was quite touched by this movie. This is one that I should definitely pass along to my parents to see, since it would likely mean even more to them than it did to me.

you've got it covered...thanks for your intelligent review.

Cute And Funny

Nice use of sprites, seemed a little short but it was generally quite good. It's refreshing to see a Pokemon flash where no one or nothing actually dies. Lately there's been a sea of that around...

Keep up the good work. I'm not a Sobe drinker, but I still liked the animation.

Golden-Fox responds:

oh really? well welcom to Newgrounds.

Pft, For Shame!

You draw and animate Pikachu so well but then you do something unoriginal and crappy like chop his head off. If you even just left off the head-chopping part and just let him get sucked into the Pokeball entirely, I would have given you a perfect 10 and plenty of praise, but no, you had to fuck it up and do something like that. Let me remind you that Astropuff and plently of others have done the EXACT same thing. It's getting old! So, I nailed you on style for that. And yes, it deserves nothing more than a 2 since IT IS NOTHING NEW.

Hmm, you have never seen Sonic get his head chopped off, right? You never see anyone from Final Fantasy get their head chopped off, right? What boggles me is why Pikachu always gets chosen for execution. And get a clue, you can never kill Pikachu. Why, you say? Because there's more than one. There's only one Sonic and only one Cloud, but there are HORDES and LEGIONS of Pikachus. They're endless. You can never kill them all. Never. And just knowing that... makes me smile and say to hell with your flashy movie. Whatever you tried to prove... failed.

Shame, shame, shame. Excellent talent, BUT NO TASTE! Biggest waste of talent and time I've ever seen. Normally I'd say "try harder next time" but that's not the problem here. In fact, watching this movie, I KNEW something dumb like that was going to happen. It's bad when your movies get too predictiable. Then you start getting like Stephen King and that's bad.

But if you do something nice, new, enjoyable, and non-violent with Pikachu, I promise you I would immediately fifteen it and slap it in my favorites list, and you probably would even score higher from the general audience as well. Hell, just look at Pikachu Music Video and how well it did. You could be next! But until that day comes, I have to give this a two and bow down in sadness at a movie that could have been... but wasn't...

Good day to you, sir. Don’t go and get electrocuted, now.

SneakySir responds:

Aww... But you're missing the point entirely!
This is not a movie I've been planning and plotting for an awful lot of time. I did this during one night only, and the reason It's really short and predictable is that I was really tired and wanted to get started with the actual animation as fast as possible in order to actually finish something that night, and couldn't be bothered by plotting an exciting storyline.

The whole point of this thing was to show of some animation, nothing else. I just used what came to mind at the moment and animated that, there is no statement I'm trying to make.

"Whatever you tried to prove... failed."
I'll tell you what I tried to prove. I only tried to prove to myself that I was able to actually create a 20 sek character animation in one night, thus breaking my drawers block that had been going on for a few weeks... Complete success!

And why pikachu? Well... Pikachus are just so damn... drawable! It could as well had been Sonic, or George W Bush or Santa Clause or whatever, If they'd had such simple and easily drawn design... Which they don't. So there's that... Drawing a pikachu just saves time.

You read way too much into this thing, man.

Heh, A Funny One...

So stupidly random that it was pretty funny. I expected a little more but hell, I didn't expect to see an exploding chicken head right at that moment and I felt that was humor to be appreciated.

I gave you a 3. Just make the next one longer and you'd have one hell of a hit.

ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

Oh it will be a hit.....

OR SO HELP ME GOD!

Some Were Great

Some of it was good and intresting, and some of it was a little sucky. However, as usual, DailyToons Season 2 (What I like to call it anyway) is definitely still better than the first.

-Frank-: Lol, sorry, but yours was shit. The picture was funny, but you need a new mike. :)

Jamina: A cute little short I thought was the best out of all of them. Definite quality, I only wish it was a bit longer. Keep up that great work, I like it a lot.

actionmes_brother: Definitely intresting, a little funny, quite imaginative, and full of bizarre creativity. Some people might think its weird, but I personally liked it.

Goldencat: Lol, I haven't heard Kris Kross in over a decade. Graphics were a little messy but then again, not everyone owns that absurdly expensive Wacom tablet. The animation was decent, but short.

Makes me kind of tempted to submit to DailyToon honestly.

Swing on

This was definitely quite good, I can tell you put a lot of effort, thought, and dedication into it. Yes, it definitely looks like it can trace its origin roots back to the Madness series by Krinkels since it has that “one man army” theme to it. And the kill counter made that relation quite apparent even more.

Whether you got this idea from Madness or not, it’s definitely quite a decent flash. Biggest difference between yours and his is the presence of color and the bunny characters. Heh, making rabbits ultra-violent seems to be quite an enjoyable theme around Newgrounds, doesn’t it?

Combat was great and gory but I’d recommend upgrading the firepower. Pistols, shotguns and little machine pistols are fun but using assault rifles, machine guns, and maybe something really wild like a rocket launcher would definitely appeal even more to the violence-loving audience. Hell, even having vehicular combat might be an interesting twist, something Krinkels himself hasn’t even touched. If you’re feeling up for something like that, go for it, since I’m sure people would adore to see something like it in a future flash.

In all, nice job and great work on this sequel. You could easily make this a series.

Mottis responds:

Wow. probably the best review ever.
Well I guess theres nothing else to say than...
Thanks!

It takes guts...

To keeping a series going on this long. I probably would have given up doing a daily flash thing myself, but its intresting to see it still comes in every day. Yes, if you see my past reviews, I had a hatred for these things. But honestly, they have been getting a bit better, and haven't been recycling the same TMNT theme again and again. That's what really drove me insane.

Also, it's nice to see a DailyToon submission from ThreeStar, my favorite member of the Star Syndicate. Not only is ThreeStar's animation great (I loved "Eat Poop Alastor" from Alastor Collection C), but she's an honest to goodness Pokemon fan as well. I couldn't ask for more.

Also, I do have to thank for creating a great abusive review cash crop with these things. Flagging them got me a silver whistle, and in a way I feel I owe you one. I used to think DailyToon was such a stupid and pointless series, and now I see that's the whole point of it. It's funny to see people get so frustrated and annoyed over a simple flash movie...

TheStarSyndicate responds:

Wow, I just learned to love you.

I actually created a list of several hundred abusive reviews for dailytoons and posted it in a few forums I go to. I never checked to see if my whistle level ever went up :P

It's good actually.

Even though it's pretty simplistic, it's actually quite funny in an unexpected way. Graphics are okay but maybe a few more frames of animation in the "singing" could help it a bit. Also, an actual background would make this a lot better.

Keep it up though, it was pretty funny.

Freetospeak responds:

I was to lazy. Advice taken though.

Thanks and Merry christmas :D.

Beyond Incredible

There are only a rare few, only a small handful of flashes out there that could ever compare to the brilliance and majestic power of this flash. There are only a few that can take powerful artwork and a meaningful song and weave them together to craft a message that won’t be soon forgotten. No doubt that with this flash, you’ve probably inspired many with your amazing work. You certainly do deserve the praise.

Where can I start? The colors used, the themes presented, the expressions portrayed all linked together to form the perfect mix to create a dynamic and brilliant flash, which like art, can be interpreted in many ways. Not a single person spoke during the length of the animation, yet the expression in every person’s face and eyes spoke an even more powerful message. The body language also was exceptional, something that is very difficult to capture appropriately in a flash movie. However, you did an amazing job of capturing that aspect with no problem at all. Fascinatingly enough, most flashes seem like they were meant for the music that is played during them. In this, it seems more like the music used was solely meant for this movie.

I don’t know what path you took to become such a great flash artist, but I can definitely say, it was surely the right one. I hope you continue working on these flash movies, because you have an amazing talent.

AloneInTheDark responds:

Thank you so much! I have put much thought in all the details you mentioned. And trust me, there were alota problems during the animating of those details, lol. When you said that it seemed like the music was made for the video and not the other way around, that was actually one of the biggest compliments i ever recieved. Take care!

Such an Awesome Flash.

To say the least, I adored Duke Nukem 3D. I don't remember how many hours I put into that game, but it must have been in the thousands. Regardless, its been a long time since I've played that game, but this flash brought back a lot of great memories.

Lots of laughs, great and smooth animation, the lighter flame was very realistic even for a cartoon, and it was funny to see all the versions of Duke Nukem playing together in a band. I'd have to say, great job. It takes a lot of creative thought to make a flash like this, and you did just that. Hopefully someday Duke Nukem will come back in a great game.

TmsT responds:

And it's only 10 frames a second. ^_~

Yep, I'm on XBox Live as "RazorDragon.' I accept all friend invites.
